Citizens bring research data through practical knowledge and lived experience, while researchers contribute scientific methods and expertise. Together, they can develop research that addresses real societal challenges and creates knowledge with direct impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Deadline for submitting a collaboration request between a civil society organisation and researcher(s): 10 July 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Application deadline: 17 September 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maximum grant per project: \u20ac100,000<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Project duration: 1 calendar year, 2027<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who are we<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">de Nieuwe Meent is a housing cooperative rooted in the housing movement, with the ambition of becoming a new standard for the 21st-century city. Our cooperative is built on shared use and stewardship, moving beyond private ownership and market forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wooncooperatives across the Netherlands often rely on highly participatory governance systems in their decision-making processes. This process relies on and is strengthened by values that guide how the community operates internally and relates to the world around it. When values are not prioritised as the foundation of governance of a wooncooperatie it leads to a weakening of singular projects as well as the citizens position in wooncooperatives development in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diversity and inclusion, commoning, care, and sustainability are our core values, guiding every decision from the start. Pursuing all four simultaneously can create tensions, but those tensions don&#8217;t mean the values are flawed. They mean they are alive. Community living is less about resolving contradictions than continually negotiating them together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our research question<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We want to investigate how housing cooperatives can use strong and outspoken values to strengthen both their internal participatory governance models and their position in negotiations with formal institutions such as banks, municipalities, and contractors, and how a movement of strong housing cooperatives can thereby position itself as equal partners of these institutions, retain control over major decisions and be a sustainable and stabilising factor in housing development on the road to a more resilient society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who are we looking for?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are looking for a researcher who is excited to collaborate with a community as equal partners in the research process. We&#8217;re looking for someone who:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>has experience with collaborative and participatory research;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is interested in combining academic and grassroots knowledge;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>has experience working with diversity and inclusion as lived values;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>has experience facilitating equitable participation in collaborative research;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is curious about community organising, commoning, and\/or cooperative living;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>values activism and lived experience as sources of knowledge (an advantage).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we particularly encourage researchers from groups that remain underrepresented in academia to get in touch.
