Admissions 55+

dNM is looking for members for 55+ co-living group

De Nieuwe Meent is looking for tenants of at least 55 years old for our 55+ co-living group! Our building is now being completed next to Science Park train station in Amsterdam East. We are expected to be able to move in by April 2025.

You will rent a floor with 3 or 4 others in which you will have a private room of 17m2 to yourself. You will then share the two bathrooms, one of which is wheelchair-accessible, a living room (64m2) and a spacious kitchen with your fellow residents. We also share flexible spaces in the building for all kinds of events and activities, a laundry room, (vegetable) garden and more.

You can see the floor plan below:

Cost

The co-living group can consist of 4 or 5 people. If the co-living group consists of four members, the 5th room can be freely filled in by you. For example, it could be a flexi work space, guest room, storage space, etc.

  • For 4 people, the rent is €625 per person
  • For 5 people, the rent is €500 per person

In addition, the costs are:

  • A monthly contribution (membership and service charges) of around €50
  • A one-time membership fee of €4000 which you get back when you leave the residence

The co-living groups do not fall under social housing and are therefore not subject to the income limits for social housing. We are investigating whether it will be possible to apply for rent benefit for this co-living group.

Who and what is the New Meent?

De Nieuwe Meent is a housing cooperative. This means that, as residents, we manage the building ourselves. We all pay rent individually to pay back our joint mortgage. No one can own or sell their home. This keeps homes for living and not for profit. As of April 2025, our seven-storey wooden building will house about 50 people. We have 15 social housing units and five co-living groups which each have four or five members.

As a housing cooperative, we share spaces and resources together, both within our building and in the neighbourhood. We strive for values such as diversity and sustainability. And believe it is important to care for each other. We work to form an inclusive community that actively works against racism and discrimination. We all have different backgrounds, professions and come from different age groups. We are looking for people who contribute to our diverse community. And above all, to people who identify with our values.
